Krist Oil Company Partners with South Shore Fishing Association’s Veteran’s Fishing Day Event 2024
South Shore Fishing Association held its annual Veterans Fishing Day event on August 3rd, 2024. Beginning at 8 am, boat captains volunteered their boats and time to help vets set sail on their adventure of Lake Superior followed by a boat parade at Mattson Lower Harbor Park escorted by the United States Coast Guard and Marquette County Sherriff’s Department.
Starting in 2014, Veteran’s Fishing Day began with 30 boat captains volunteering their boats and time to thank 60 vets for their service. Each year, the community is invited to Lower Harbor to cheer on the incredible military heroes as they hold up their biggest catch of the day to make the day one to remember.
After veterans leave their vessels out on the water, the fish are cleaned and distributed to the participants, and locals gather to honor our veterans for their service.
Each year, Krist Oil Company partners with the South Shore Fishing Association to provide gas cards to all the volunteer boat captains, donate coolers for Veterans to take their fish home in, and make monetary donations to offset the cost of documenting this special day. Watch videos here.
