Stan’s 95 Birthday
On April 9th, Stanley Atanasoff celebrated an incredible milestone—his 95th birthday. Stan is the CEO and founder of Krist Oil Company, a business he built with vision, determination, and a deep respect for family. After purchasing the company from his family members, he renamed Stambaugh Oil Company to Krist Oil Company in honor of his father, Krist.
For more than 65 years, Krist Oil Company has been Stan’s life-long passion, and he remains actively involved in the day-to-day operations. Today, his legacy continues through his son, Krist, and grandsons KC, Kirk, Kiel, and Kole, who work side by side to carry the company forward—demonstrating the strength and values of a true family-owned business.
The company has grown to operate 80 convenience store locations across Michigan, northern Wisconsin, and northern Minnesota. Krist Oil remains proudly self-sufficient, managing the transportation of its own fuel, grocery, and dairy supplies to keep stores stocked each week. In addition, its home heating division plays a vital role in the community, supplying propane and fuel oil to homes throughout northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Over the years, Krist Food Marts have continued to evolve. The latest store experience features expanded food service options, including fresh hot meals prepared daily and enhanced cold beverage selections with large beer vaults.
