Peshtigo Police Pumping for A Purpose at Local Krist Oil
Proceeds Benefit the Families of Vega Ellis and Kody Klimek Both Battling Cancer
The Peshtigo Police Department with assistance from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department will be pumping gas for a purpose on February 20th, 2022, from 9 AM – 1 PM at Peshtigo’s Krist Oil Station. All donations will go directly to aid two local families whose children Vega Ellis (2 years old) and Kody Klimek (18 Years Old) are battling cancer.
Vega Ellis was diagnosed with Acute Megakaryoblast Leukemia (AMKL) back in January 2021 after her parents noticed some prolonged bruising. Vega received a short break in treatment in August 2021. Shortly after, Ellis received devastating news her labs were abnormal and had to continue treatment starting back up in December 2021. Around that same time, Kody Klimek was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a cancerous tumor that grows in the bones or tissues often spreading to the legs, ribs, arms, and spine. Kody’s cancer started in his knee and tibia and has since spread to his lungs and pelvis. Both Vega and Kody are receiving treatment at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.
“Having a child with cancer is one of the most painful and difficult situations a family can face,” says Police Chief Officer Popp, “As active members of our community, we have felt the call to reach beyond our typical duties and lend our support to the families of Vega Ellis and Kody Klimek.”
Prior to the Pumping for a Purpose event, many Peshtigo businesses will be helping raise funds by selling and displaying donation sheets. Donate a dollar or more and personalize a sheet with your name on it. Krist Oil will be matching the in-store donation sheets sold at the Peshtigo store location. Krist Oil has also partnered with their milk supplier Morning Glory Milk to provide free milk for a year to both families.
