Krist Oil Receives 2023 Above and Beyond Award, Presented by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
On May 13th, Krist received the Above and Beyond Award in recognition of the company going the extra mile for active military members. Beyond the requirements of the law, that is. The award was presented by ESGR on behalf of the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve Forces. An entity earns this award through outstanding service and continuing support of the National Defense.
Krist is extremely supportive of service member employees. Specifically, the company provides continuation of pay and benefits during periods of military service and support to service members’ families. In November 2021, Krist received the Bronze-Level Veteran Friendly Employer Award granted by the Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency. Employers must prove their commitment to hiring Veterans as well as educating human resources personnel on how to connect them with services available to them to receive this award. Said resources are available through the Michigan Veterans Resources Service Center. Concurrently, Krist signed the Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. By signing this Statement, Krist pledged to recognize and honor federal laws governing the employer service member relationship.
First Sergeant and Krist Oil Regional Retail Supervisor Wesley (Wes) Amerson nominated Krist for this award. He’s been working with the company since 2019 along with his service in the Michigan Army National Guard for 20 years. His service includes completion of two combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also completed non-combat deployments including Hurricane Katrina relief, Latia, Egypt, and Poland. Wes graduated from Sergeant Major Academy on Friday, March 31st making him eligible for a Sergeant Major position—the highest rank achievable as a noncommissioned officer. To be nominated by him is a true honor.
