Local Product Highlight: Mighty Deer Lick
Back in the 1970’s, the first Mighty Deer Lick (MDL) product was a bagged mineral attractant that Ted Janke produced in his family’s garage as a kid. He started selling the product door to door and store to store with his father. His father, August Janke, was the owner of Ely’s Potato Chips in Escanaba, MI. On their routes delivering potato chips, Ted would bring along his bags of Mighty Deer Lick to sell. Forty years later, the Mighty Deer Lick products are now being manufactured in the local Northwoods of the Upper Peninsula. Right where it all began. After all this time, MDL continues to lead the deer feed industry by supplying the highest quality mineralized supplement for deer.
The preservation of our animal populations in the Northwoods is something to be taken seriously. Let’s start with our deer.
